Homemade
Dood Paard/ Toneelhuis | NL/BE
It's time to act: we must build. Homemade is a performance about buildings - building a home. Materials are brought in, construction has to provide a solid foundation, but what is that? What requirements must such a thing meet? It must offer protection. You must want to be there. You must be able to see out through it. You can see the neighbours through it. What will they think? How do you get the walls to speak, and how do you make sure they only say sweet things? A poetic, visual performance about safety, fear, hospitality, prosperity and climate.
After the successful theatre production De Verse Tijd (selected for het Nederlands Theaterfestival in 2019), Homemade is the second collaboration between Kuno Bakker (Dood Paard) and Mokhallad Rasem (Toneelhuis, Antwerp), and is part of a trilogy that will be concluded in April 2022 with the performance Looking for Habibi.
In De Verse Tijd, two men met and built a friendship. In Homemade, they continue to build, but now a place where they can live together, where they both feel at home. It is time to act. They must build.
