REASPORA de muziektour
Onyx & Ivory/ Paradiso Melkweg Productiehuis/ DOX | NL
Roots, cassava, akar, gbongbo. Which words and sounds will sound if we follow our roots? Singer Anne-Fay Kops and film producer Felix Kops travelled from the Netherlands to Suriname and Ghana via Aruba & Curaçao to find stories about their roots. In these countries, they made music with local producers and musicians. They put their stories and the music from this journey in tracks influenced by hip hop, soul, gospel, electronic, and traditional music originated from their ancestors’ countries. A togetherness of rhythm, sounds, text and images of origin arises.
Note: Stroboscopes are used during this performance. If you are sensitive to light, or suffer from epilepsy, this can be annoying. Keep this in mind.
Every track has a special Beyoncé like music video with a societal message. Producers Morgan Avenue (S10, Naaz) and Jeremia Jones (Ed Sheeran, Nicki Minaj) brought de songs together on an album.
