Lubricant for Life
Woodman | BE
A laugh lets some air escape from your valve. The first spring breeze in your face, the sound of the popping of a bottle of fizz: a little bit of air can be liberating. It is like a lubricant that makes life more pleasant, makes life go smoother, and lets it progress less forced or tough. In Lubricant for Life, with experience experts as guides, Woodman takes you on a disarming interactive slapstick quest for happiness gurus in which you will create your own fortune methods, completed with high-fives, laughing therapy and Charlie Chaplin fun. Because when drama threatens to take over, we are better off choosing a little bit of space and much-needed air.
‘After a year of scientific research and personal struggles, the team created the toolkit that will change your life forever, that will give you control of your life,’ promises Woodman, the new theatre company of actors Evelien Bosmans, Joke Emmers, Thomas Janssens and Matthias Meersman.
For this show, they studied the human species: How do we portray ourselves? And how to get a grip on our lives and those around us? Lubricant for Life offers a specific step-by-step plan on how to create your own unique method for living. It is a question of finding your lubricant to help you through everyday life.
‘Woodman is so completely devoid of pretence and irony that it can pump all the energy straight into their dynamics and the audience. This colourful group of actors might have a lubricating, rather than a binding agent—one which evaporates quite fast, yet simultaneously has a disarming effect.’
