The Maltese birdcatcher is in danger of extinction. This age-old tradition and the accompanying ritual, passed down from father to son, in which a lure resounds through the Maltese fields, and a resting migratory bird is temporarily deprived of its freedom, has recently been banned by the EU.
The birds must be protected, but who will protect the catcher, who travels for hours with his son and a net, linked by nature and culture? Jimmy Grima knows how to capture the attention of his spectators. Song of a Bird is a mystical documentary performance with a melancholy look—an ode to the Nassaba.

This performance is spoken in Maltese and with English subtitles.
