The Future is not what it used to be

What hangs by a thread and is difficult to predict? The future. That, and the dancers of Panama Pictures in The Future is not what it used to be. Because what is time: is it the ticking of the clock, is it the wrinkles in your skin? Does it pass you by, or does it work the other way around? In this acrobatic dance performance it exists at the same time. They are cracks in the wallpaper, memories of places and moments in which you were absorbed. On these fragments, the dancers balance quite literally, in a dangerously nimble attempt to catch the time.

Location Zuiderpark/Tent 5
Running time 60 min.
Genre language no problem

Choreographer Pia Meuthen and her performers present a physical and sensorial performance about the mystery of time. Fragments of the past hang in the space, dancers hang around it, on it or on top of it. And meanwhile, the clock is ticking. In-house composers from the company Strijbos & van Rijswijk, together with musician and performer Davide Bellotta, created exciting live music for this already exciting piece of art.

“With The Future is not what it used to be by Panama Pictures, the space seems to explode completely. […] The voluminous composition by Strijbos & Van Rijswijk, performed live by musician and dancer Davide Bellotta, enhances the overall feeling, so that for an hour you really think that time and space are expanding and contracting."
