Maaike Girardin, a Dutch-Canadian singer-songwriter and romantic, is guided by her wanderlust and addiction to adventure. From a young age, Maaike has been strongly influenced by her Indigenous Canadian (Métis) background, where music serves as a source of healing. Her songs discuss her search for identity as a woman with dual nationality.

Location Pand 18/Tuin
Running time 15 min.
Genre Music

During the pandemic of July 2020, Maaike met Sicilian guitarist Alberto Ammendolia on the sunny beach of Sicily. A shared passion for artists like Phoebe Bridgers, Taylor Swift and Foo Fighters brought them together and sparked their creative spark. The addition of Spanish-Norwegian violinist Alba Vivaldi-Huuse during their studies in Tilburg enriched them and added a unique dynamic to their collaboration. As a unit, they decided to continue under the name AL ALMA, which is Spanish for ‘to the soul’.

AL ALMA has enchanted the stages of Europe with their emotionally charged performances. From intimate locations like the Kring in Roosendaal to international festivals like Wonderest in Hungary, KRANG in Hengelo and Tour Music Fest in Italy, they have put together an impressive series of performances. Local hotspots such as the Schalm in Berkel-Enschot, the Kring in Roosendaal and pop venue 013 in Tilburg have also experienced the magic of AL ALMA, while they have also secured a prominent place at festivals such as KRANG in Hengelo and Stukafest in Nijmegen.

Currently AL ALMA works on their debut EP 'On My Way’.
