Unapologetic, personal, and full of soul, gospel and R&B. These words describe the work of theatre maker and singer Gavin-Viano. He performed at Boulevard with his work Able To Fuck Love [2022], and A Melody For Grownups [2023]. This year, he returns with A Shadow Can See.

In A Shadow Can See, Gavin-Viano takes on the role of the shadow. In other performances in which Gavin-Viano was cast, his skin colour and his sexual orientation were leading. For A Shadow Can See, the artist chooses to create an experience in which he transforms into the shadow, so that his appearance and sexual orientation finally play no role. Using a Motion Capture Suit, his shadow comes to life digitally. The rhythmic heartbeat is created live by percussionists Ritmo Entertainment.
In this audiovisual musical theatre performance, Gavin-Viano collaborates with video artist Wes Broersen, animator Viktor Adriaansen and music producers Donna Lugassy and Sennes.
