The Pink Room of Her Own
Selma Selman | BA/US
The Pink Room of Her Own is the new installation by maker Selma Selman. She already showed her installation Antifragile Body during Boulevard in 2021.
For The Pink Room of Her Own, Selma Selman worked together with her mother to create the dreamy, girly room her mother never had during het childhood. A childhood that got lost when she was married off when she was thirteen years old. Selma Selman drew the room based on active and fictional memories of unrealised dreams and made a 3D print of them.
The title of The Pink Room of Her Own derives from Virginia Woolf’s book A Room of One’s Own. Although, her mother does not write from the same experiences, she personally longs for and experiences the same space to live and feel intimacy and freedom.
This project takes place in the frame of the Feminist Futures Festival which is part of the apap - Feminist Futures, a project co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
