Power to the Pipo are four musical men who do not take themselves too seriously, can groove seriously and above all, really enjoy having fun with music. Their live performances are raw, energetic, extremely funky and always a party.
Over the past three years, Power to the Pipo has become a much-loved live act in the Netherlands. The band has played more than 200 shows, including one at Jazz in our own Duketown. The set-up: Virgil Rerimassie on guitar, Luc Pustjens on bass, Michiel Sonnevijlle on saxophone and effects and Rob van Barschot on drums. Combine that with a bucket of energy and you create Power to the Pipo. The lyrics in the songs are sometimes surprisingly simple, and therefore memorable. Whereby the song 'Loempia' takes the crown. Curious? Come!
Energetic, bombastic tunes alternate rapidly with inimitable solos. And it is this instrumental music, combined with lots of energy, that makes for great fun every time, both on stage and in the audience. Power to the Pipo!
