In 2021, Katja Heitmann was already a guest on Boulevard with her project Motus Mori. Visitors and residents of the city donated their personal movements to her archive of movements. With Motus Mori: RELIQUIEM, Katja Heitmann takes the next step: the movements from her archive are transferred to the public.

Location Tuin Sint Janskathedraal
Running time 75 min.
Genre Brabantse bodem, Ongewone locaties

You remember your loved ones by their typical movements. Since 2019, around 1500 people have already donated their personal movements to the archive of the Motus Mori project. The Motus Mori dancers have carefully documented facial expressions, postures and gestures of residents of care homes, festival visitors, children, people with a physical impairment and the homeless through drawings and choreographies. From that collection of movements, Katja Heitmann made a new moving performance in which you place yourself into the bodies of these donors. Which movement would you like to inherit?

Motus Mori: RELIQUIEM is a personal, physical and auditory experience. At the start of the performance, you will be given headphones and at various times you will be asked to sit, stand or walk.

“Heitmann is turning our everyday gestures in to art.”

The New York Times

“Katja Heitmann tries to classify people's unique motor skills. An intriguing, original project.”
