Schippers&VanGucht believe that playing belongs to all ages and all bodies. Especially for Boulevard 2022, they developed SPEELVELD, a demarcated space on the festival site in the Zuiderpark where visitors are invited to play. The field contains soft objects that the players themselves can place and move.
Due to its modular character, the field is constantly in motion and the participants help determine its design. SPEELVELD is part of a research project by Schippers&VanGucht, in collaboration with Theatre Festival Boulevard. In this project, they focus on the active involvement of the audience in their theatrical installations and study how they can make these more inclusive in terms of accessibility. SPEELVELD will be used for the first time during Boulevard and can afterwards travel around to introduce other audiences to the game and continue the research.
The playing field is open to all visitors from Wednesday 10 August to Saturday 13 August, from 2 pm to 6 pm.
In addition, we explicitly invite some groups to test the playing field. Depending on the agendas, Schippers&VanGucht will plan their presence. At these times the playing field also remains available for other visitors. Are you interested in contributing to this research in a playful way?
