QLUB BOULEVARD
TREK IETS LEUKS UIT | NL
During BALLROOM BOULEVARD, dragwalks, battles, disco balls, poetry slam and vogue conquer the festival. TREK IETS LEUKS UIT celebrates on stage, but also in the auditorium.
After the exuberant success of 2021 - with the smash hit "Call it queer, call it bi, call it polyamory" - TREK IETS LEUKS UIT is pulling out all the stops again. To the beats of MISS FIASCO, colours are celebrated and dresses are applauded. To be clear: BALLROOM BOULEVARD is for everyone! And if you are looking in vain for yourself in the alphabet of love - because, well, lhbtiq is just a letter polonaise - then make up your own letter. Or a punctuation mark. Anything goes. The first underground 'balls' appeared in the 1970s in the poor neighbourhoods of New York. In extravagant robes, fashionable outfits and sexy suits, lhbtiq'ers from the black and latino community escaped their daily discrimination. Thus, a night culture of their own developed, to the beats of instrumental disco and house. Founders of TREK IETS LEUKS UIT and this BALLOOM BOULEVARD are Teddy Tops [1989], Job Rietvelt [1993] and Kirsten van Teijn [1989]. They work together with the queer scene from Den Bosch and beyond.
