Steffen Morrison grew up with the tunes, moves and grooves of James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke and other soul souls from the fifties, sixties and seventies. But The Rolling Stones and Lou Reed did not hide in his music collection either. He was born in Suriname, lived in L.A., now lives in Amsterdam.
Steffen reached the semi-finals of De Grote Prijs van Nederland, convinced in The Voice of Holland in 2013 - coach: Trijntje Oosterhuis - and with his backing band was support act of Joss Stone, Maceo Parker and Raphael Saadiq. In 2016/2017 he played a leading role in the theatre production I'm a Soulman about the famous record label STAX. About his new album Soul Revolution, Steffen says: "I'm going to look for the pieces of the puzzle that make up the man I am today." But when he finds the edges, they are sure to shake loose on stage. That's how it goes with his festive performances.
On Sunday 7 August, Steffen will welcome two additional guests, including singer Jared Grant.
