Tickets Boulevard on sale
In a previous news article, we announced the first six performances for this year's festival. We are happy to add another seven new performances to our programme. With this addition, the first part of the programme is complete. As of today, the tickets for the performances are on sale. We will present the complete programme of almost 80 performances on the 26th of June.
First 13 performances
A few weeks ago, we announced that Miet Warlop/Irene Wool/NT Gent with ONE SONG, 71BODIES/Daniel Mariblanca with A True Story, Panama Pictures/Bosch Parade with The Weight of Water, Chiara Bersani with SOTTOBOSCO, Katja Heitmann with Motus Mori: RELIQUIEM and Louis Janssens with Desire will present their performances at Boulevard this summer. We proudly add the following seven companies to our programme.
For SPAfrica, theatre maker and artist Julian Hetzel [DE/NL] and the South-African performer Ntando Cele [CH/ZA] bundle their powers to explore the borders of empathy – the ability to replace yourself in the feelings of the other. What if empathy does not break or change power mechanisms but strengthens existing privileges? SPAfrica reveals the problematic operation and hidden racism of empathy. A performance to talk about for a while.
With What Remains, the international dance company Ultima Vez returns to Boulevard after the resounding success of their performance Birds in 2022. Zoë Demoustier [BE], choreographer at the company, brings different generations together on stage: young people starting their lives and older dancers leaving life behind. The outcome of this encounter is a dance performance between old and young that reveals similarities and differences in movements and body language.
A Melody for Grownups is a disarming concert performance in which theatremaker, actor and singer Gavin-Viano [NL] talks about his experiences of being an adult. He is accompanied by five soulful-popping musicians on keys, horns and drums.
During Artemisia All Inclusive 8+ by Theater Artemis under the direction of Liesbet Swings [NL], you board an actual cruise ship for a family cruise for all ages on land. Including captain and crew. The motto of Artemisia All Inclusive: "Do you want to get out? Then jump in."
In Corpus Criolla, choreographer Faizah Grootens with Kip Republic [NL] looks closely at the embodiment and stereotyping with which Creole dance forms are often associated. Infinite circular movements, rhythmic beats, a natural flow and Latin-Caribbean oomph, are the ingredients for this dance performance. At the same time, it offers food for thought about current issues such as identity, the culture of shame, conventions and traditions, and colonial influences.
At the Militaire Rijbaan, Schippers&VanGucht are building a three-and-a-half-metre-high, fifteen-metre-long and three-metre-wide video installation: ODE. Clearly larger than the garbage truck in last year's Volle Vuilkar or Tussentijdcapsule in 2021. But even now, you journey through different spaces where all sorts of things happen. Don't worry; you'll get lost!
With Siriana, mijn vriendin, performer Karlijn Hamer returns to Boulevard after her debut Kiss The Earth You Scum in 2022. With her new performance, she creates an intimate performance about the inner world of a woman with autism.
Tickets for the first 13 performances are on sale now!
